Crimson Skies Wiki

The Beowulf is a Zeppelin featured in Crimson Skies. It is a zeppelin operated by Germany, more specifically, German investors of Lucas Miles and Sacred Trust Incorporated. The Beowulf was sent to Manhattan on the request of Miles in order to support his evacuation of stolen goods via three Cargo zeppelins. Upon the appearance of Nathan Zachary and the Fortune Hunters in its airspace, the Beowulf began dropping elite Luftwaffe Focke-Wulf Fw 193 Hellhounds to chase away the pirates.[1]

Notes[]

  • It is impossible to down the Beowulf unless you bring Aerial torpedoes, as the broadside cannons will remain closed due to the zeppelin having no other zeppelin threat to cause it to open its hatches.
  • The Luftwaffe aircraft it launches, Hellhounds, are notably superior pilots to anything else encountered in the game. Even aces are not as good as the Luftwaffe pilots, so extreme caution should be taken when attempting to take down the Beowulf, as most if not all of your wingmen will be defeated by the Hellhounds.

Trivia[]

  • The Beowulf is the only German zeppelin found in the game.
  • It is the only time you can fight against the Luftwaffe and German fighters.
  • Some unique voicelines can play as the Luftwaffe fighters are shot down which you will only hear in the campaign if you specifically seek out the Beowulf.
  • It is entirely possible to not know of the existence of the Beowulf as you are never taken to the evacuation point during the mission unless you are too slow to disable the three cargo zeppelins, therefore allowing you to complete the mission without ever coming into contact with the Beowulf.
