The Grumman E-1C Avenger is small for a twin-engine aircraft, but the two engines allowed for a mix of speed and fuel efficiency; the operational range of the E-1 is almost fifty percent greater than other aircraft of comparable size. It fills the role of interceptor and, occasionally, reconnaissance or light-strike craft. The modern Avenger, the E-1C, introduced in 1936, is well-armed, two of the eight .30-caliber machine guns on the E-1 replaced with .60-caliber cannons, and it has added cockpit armor, increasing pilot survival rate. The Avenger has mediocre maneuverability and armor, which makes it a poor craft for dogfighting.[1] The Avenger is confirmed to have existed in the earlier beta version of the Crimson Skies PC game.
