Crimson Skies Wiki

Junkers is a company featured in Crimson Skies. Originating in Germany, they produce engines, notably the Jumo line used in the Focke-Wulf Fw 193 Hellhound.

Products[]

Jumo 150B[]

"The Junkers Jumo 150B is a superior engine with classic German precision engineering. The Jumo engine performs excellently! It accelerates without hesitation and runs without fail! Jumo is the supreme fighter engine!"
—Engine description[1]

The 150B was the base engine in the Jumo series, with a cost of $1,270 and 1,500 lbs in weight. While not the most powerful of engines, it could propel the Hellhound at 234 m.p.h.[2]

Jumo 190B[]

"The Junkers Jumo 190B is a superior engine with classic German precision engineering. The Jumo engine performs excellently! It accelerates without hesitation and runs without fail! Jumo is the supreme fighter engine!"
—Engine description[3]

The 190B was the middle-range engine in the Jumo series and came as standard on a new Hellhound, with a cost of $1,700 and 2,000 lbs in weight. A good step up from the 150B, the engine could get the Hellhound to reach 261 m.p.h.[2]

Jumo 230B[]

"The Junkers Jumo 230B is a superior engine with classic German precision engineering. The Jumo engine performs excellently! It accelerates without hesitation and runs without fail! Jumo is the supreme fighter engine!"
—Engine description[4]

The top-spec engine for the line, the 230B was the most powerful but most expensive and heaviest Jumo engine, with a cost of $2,125 and 2,500 lbs in weight. While expensive and heavy, it can have the Hellhound reach speeds of up to 287 m.p.h.[2]

Nitrous[]

"And now Jumo engines are even better, with nitrous oxide fuel injection, for one-third better performance in speed and acceleration. Fast! Better! Stronger! Jumo!"
—Nitrous added to all engines[5]

Following the heist of the Hughes Bloodhawk[6] and rescue of Wilhelm Fassenbiender[7] by Nathan Zachary, the Jumo engines were able to be fitted with nitrous oxide boost which increased their top speeds and allowed for a short supercharged burst of speed. The addition of nitrous caused the engines to become even heavier and cost more than their base variants, adding an additional 500 lbs to each engine's weight, causing the heavy 230B to weigh a hefty 3,000 lbs with the nitrous. Price increase from the nitrous caused the 150B nitro to cost $1,705, the 190B nitro to cost $2,130 and the already expensive 230B to now cost $2,555 with the nitro.[2]

However, the considerable power increase meant that the 150B nitro could attain a top speed of 312 m.p.h, faster than the base 150B by over 75 m.p.h.! The 190B nitro could reach speeds of 347 m.p.h. and the 230B nitro was able to clock 381 m.p.h, almost 100 m.p.h faster than the standard 230B.[2]

Trivia[]

  • In the description of the Jumo 230B nitro, a comma is missing after "injection".
