Introduced in 1932, the Marquette PR-1 Defender is a limited-role fighter: it is a failure at performing ground-attack or anti-airship missions, but quite effective as in air-to-air engagements with enemy fighters. The Defender was aptly named, as it was designed to defend the People's Collective from Federal troops and raids by the Industrial States of America. It is a small and light aircraft, and its Juarez engine (based on a Mexican design from the 1920s) is considered small, even for the Defender, but a supercharger increased power, though this resulted in poor fuel efficiency and a tendency for the engine to cut out under high G-forces. Its turning ability and heavy armament offset its shortcomings, though the rear-lifting canopy restricts rear visibility.[1]
