- "Mayday! Mayday! Zeppelin CCCP Worker's Voyage under pirate attack!"
- —The mayday call of the Worker's Voyage[1]
The CCCP Worker's Voyage was a Zeppelin featured in Crimson Skies. It was a large passenger zeppelin owned and operated by the USSR in 1937. The Workers' Voyage was conducting a tour of the western coast of North America when it was used by Cheka agents to seize the German scientist Wilhelm Fassenbiender.[2]
Unfortunately for the Workers' Voyage, Fassenbiender's daughter, Ilsa was able to contact Nathan Zachary's Fortune Hunters, who immediately launched a rescue attempt.[2] Driving off their on-board security planes and a squadron led by the Black Swan herself, the Fortune Hunters were able to rescue the doctor and escape.[3]
Shortly after this encounter, the Workers' Voyage was again attacked by pirates - this time the fiendish Black Hats. With the loss of their escort squadron, the Workers' Voyage was destroyed by the Black Hats and crashed off the coast of Pacifica. The hospital ship Compassion attempted to rescue surviving passengers and crew, but was attacked by Black Hat Brigands and Boat Balloons, before these attackers were driven off by none other than the Fortune Hunters.[4]
Strategy[]
- Flak rockets will make destroying the engines easier, as well as dealing with the Devastators. High Explosive rockets work to a lesser extent, as one hit will destroy an engine, however they require more precise aim and do not have the splash damage radius of flak rockets to damage multiple engines.
- High explosive Ammunition is the best choice for destroying the engines with Machine guns.
- Taking out the defending Devastators will make disabling the Worker's Voyage a lot easier.
- Likewise, destroying the defensive Turrets will make docking with the zeppelin a lot safer.
Appearances[]
- Crimson Skies
- The Red Menace
- Mercy's Errand (destroyed)
Trivia[]
- You can destroy the zeppelin if you replay the missing and bring Aerial torpedoes. You will require at least four successful torpedo hits to down the zeppelin on different gas bags. This will not change the story, however, as the mission takes place originally before you acquire torpedoes.
